Ethics in Aviation

Hello! My name is Cierra Riojas and I wanted to share my experience about my recent deployment on the USS George HW Bush. I'm currently in the United States Navy and I'm on the aviation side working on FA18E/F. Ethics to me is closely related to being in the military as you have the obligation to serve your country just as ethics is the moral obligation to choose good or bad. Upon returning home from my 8.5-month deployment from the Mediterranean, our ship conducted what is called Neptune Strike. This exercise was meant to establish a secure bond between all the NATO allies in regard to the major Russia/Ukraine conflict. This exercise brought together many European countries in NATO and we worked closely with the Italian and French Navy to conduct these exercises. Neptune strike was a way for the US and NATO allies to have air and ground interaction to aid in the problem at hand (United States Navy, n.d.). The way I see ethics in this deployment is that it blows my mind how countries on the opposite side of the world come together for the greater good on their own behalf to help the Russia/Ukraine conflict. This is due to the ethical values they abide by in their own country.  It means a lot how multiple countries have similar ethical values on helping the world and all of it can be through  aviation.

This was an actual picture taken on November 23,2022 on deployment. Seen is a French Navy fighter jet aboard the USS George HW Bush.
It is incredible to be how aviation and individual ethical values can be brought together and quite literally change the world!
